Monitoring

Monitoring is an essential element to clearly document the status of a provider's compliance, and it has been proven effective for enhancing long-term success. In fact, providers who are engaged in monitoring through health programs have the highest rate of recovery/abstinence as well as the ability to return to work.

Typical requirements of Monitoring Agreement may include:
  • Regularly scheduled meetings with the Medical Director or the Board of Directors.
  • Drug screening.
  • Attendance with mutual support groups, such as 12-Step meetings.
  • Workplace support monitors (usually a supervisor or similar).

The duration of a Monitoring Agreement varies according to the initial condition, or the reason for monitoring.  Monitoring requirements tend to decrease over time, but is largely dependent on compliance.
